Overview of Cottages

At Saamrus, we offer nine unique, self-catering cottages tucked away across our private 14-hectare farm. While our cottages provide an intimate, tranquil base, our guests enjoy exclusive access to an additional 500 hectares of pristine communal grazing land, where we lovingly maintain a scenic network of hiking trails.

Standard in Every Cottage: The Saamrus Experience
  • Total Pet Security: Every cottage features a private garden fully enclosed with 1.2m-high wire mesh fencing and extra bird-wire at the bottom. This ensures that even the smallest four-legged family members can safely enjoy off-leash freedom while you unwind.
  • Warm Ambiance (Inside & Out): Each cottage features an indoor wood-burning fireplace for chilly mountain nights, as well as a private outdoor space with a firepit/braai, perfect for relaxing under the stars. (Please note: Tarentaal and Kiewiet do not have patios or firepits yet, only a braai and shaded seating area outside)
  • Full Self-Catering Setup: Each cottage includes a well-appointed, fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette, providing all the utensils, cutlery, crockery, and appliances you need for independent cooking. Dishwashing liquid and cloths are also supplied.
  • Thoughtful Guest Amenities: To help you settle in comfortably, we provide welcome tea and coffee facilities as well as braai salt in the kitchen. In the bathrooms, you will find all essentials, including hand soap, shower/bath soap, hand and body lotion, and shampoo.
  • Year-Round Comfort: Stay perfectly comfortable in any weather with ceiling or standing fans for the warm summer months and wall-mounted panel heaters to keep things cozy during winter.
  • Linen & Towels: Every unit comes with clean linen and bath towels.
  • Entertainment: All cottages have TV sets, but no reception without a decoder. Guests are welcome to bring along their own DStv decoder or connect a laptop. Please bring your own data or Wi-Fi connection. There is a small communal pool at the foot of the hill.
  • On-Site Parking: Every cottage has its own dedicated parking space. Shade-net carports are available directly at most units. Please note: For Tarentaal, Kiewiet, Hoephoep, and Piet-my-vrou, dedicated shade ports are currently under construction. In the meantime, guests staying in these units are welcome to use the general shade-net parking at the foot of the hill.
