Secure Private Gardens

Every cottage features its own fully enclosed garden with 1.2m high wire mesh fencing and extra bird-wire at the bottom, where needed, to ensure even the smallest toy breeds can roam safely and securely off-leash right outside your door.

Off-Leash Trail Freedom

Beyond your private garden, the farm offers a playground of exploration. Dogs are welcome to run free on our mountain and river trails once you are away from the main buildings.

Whether you choose a level valley cottage for an older dog or a hilltop retreat, you will find that we have kept it practical for pets with easy to clean loose rugs and cement floors.

Important Guidelines for a Safe Stay

To ensure the safety, comfort, and peace of mind of all our human and furry guests as well as our resident pets, we kindly ask that you follow our essential house rules:

  • The Ridgeback Safety Rule: Our resident Ridgebacks are beautiful but highly territorial, and they are taken on twice-daily walks on the grass paths downhill. For your safety, do not walk your pets during these times: Morning Walk: Before 06:15 (Summer) / 07:15 (Winter); Evening Walk: After dark.
  • Leash Rules: Dogs must be kept on a leash at the reception area, in the parking areas, and when passing near the main farmhouse.
  • No Unattended Pets: To prevent distress and ensure safety, dogs may never be left alone at the cottage. If you leave the property for a local excursion, your furry friends must go with you.
  • Cottage & Furniture Etiquette: When at the cottage, please keep your dogs inside your fenced cottage yard with the gate securely closed. Your dogs will immediately get territorial over this space and will want to chase anybody walking past. We also kindly ask that you bring your own covers or sheets to protect the furniture and beds if your pets like to cuddle up.
  • Health & Veld Care: Please ensure your dogs' rabies vaccinations and tick/flea treatments are fully up to date. Because our beautiful veld has many ticks (especially during the rainy season), please give your dogs a quick brush and check after your walks.
